Homosexual: What is God’s plan for sexuality?

God made humans male and female and made provisions for the two to become one in marriage. He made the first man and saw it was not good for him to be alone. He then gave her a woman (not another man). Homosexuals do the opposite.

Matthew 19:4
And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”

God knew exactly what He was doing then. Going forward, man fell short of God’s glory when they disobeyed His command in the Garden of Eden. God meted out the woman’s punishment. He told her that her desire shall be towards the man. Genesis 3:16. So where exactly did the homosexuality orientation find its base in God’s grand plan for mankind? What baffles me about homosexuals is how two persons of same sex manage to become one in sex.

God’s wisdom in sexuality

God is wise and His ways are past finding out according to Romans 11: 33. In His manifold wisdom, He designed the male and female genitals in such a way that they fit into each other during intercourse. Back then in school during my undergraduate studies, we did a course on Hardware where I learnt about cables and connectors. There are male and female connectors. A typical example is your plug and socket at home. Nobody takes a plug and looks for another plug to connect it with. Get it? If God’s plan for sexuality is for us to choose our preferred gender for sexual satisfaction, then He most likely would not have made them male and female with peculiar sex organs at the beginning.

From the Bible we understand that God designed sex to serve two purposes within the confines of marriage: procreation and pleasure. It is the most intimate force binding the man and his woman in a sacred manner that makes them no longer two but one.

Can Homosexuals marry

If sex is designed for pleasure and reproduction, three points must be explicitly stated here:
• Sex outside marriage is fornication/adultery and this cuts across all sexual orientations. This means sex between two unmarried persons of any gender is sinful.

• It is still a sin if a homosexual decides to get married to avoid fornication. This is because God only describes marriage in terms of union between man and woman. All marriage references in the Bible were between opposite sexes. Genesis 2:23-24
And Adam said: “This is now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man.” Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

The terms ‘woman’ and ‘wife’ in this text have the same Hebrew definition- ishshah nashiym- according to the original writings of the scripture which means female. So basically marriage is a union of man and woman. Without fear of contradiction, I think I can say any other thing outside this framework is not marriage.

• Reproduction in humans only occurs as a result of fertilization of male and female sex cells. This certainly is not an option between two individuals of same sex.

Homosexuality is a perversion of God’s standards

If marriage, sex or reproduction cannot be done right being homosexual, then this sexual orientation is definitely a perversion of God’s standards. This is why I worry about Churches that support gay marriages. Homosexuality and bestiality are among the forbidden sexual acts outlined in Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13. We see the homosexual tendency for the first time in the Bible is in Genesis 19:5 where the men of Sodom asked Lot to bring his male visitors (the angels) out to have sex with them. The angels struck those perverts with blindness in verse 11 of that chapter.

In the New Testament, Romans 1:26-27 calls it a shameful act:
For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

Note: The terms ‘homosexual’ and ‘sodomite’. Sodomite (which is most likely originated from Sodom) refer to homosexuals (lesbians and gays alike).. refer to the catamites (the passive or receiving partner) in homosexual relationships.
Homosexuality in general terms is a perverted sexual orientation by God’s standards and what led to this perversion is not far-fetched. It is man’s denial of God’s absolute authority in his life as explained in the preceding verses of Romans 1:26.

Romans 1:20-25
For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

Having established that homosexuality is a sin against God, asking if homosexuals can marry only begs the question.

What is wrong with Homosexuality?

As a way of summary, the following are some reasons why it is wrong to be homosexual:

• It questions God’s wisdom in creating you male or female
• It defies nature. Homosexuality is sex deviance (perversion)
• It directly contradicts God’s law of unionism
• It ultimately takes one to hell. Jude 7. In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.

Can I possibly change from homosexual to heterosexual?
YES!
Luke 1:37- For with God nothing will be impossible.”
Sexual orientation can be corrected. It is all about re-scripting the mind. Remember I explained at the first part of this article that sexual orientation is a perception of the mind formed over time. This perception can be corrected. A child brought up in an abusive environment would likely grow believing being abusive is a norm. When he becomes a man and sees his error he can choose to correct his wrong orientation. It is not impossible to change being homosexual. Homosexuals were mentioned among those who will not inherit God’s kingdom. However, hope is found in 1 Corinthians 6:11.

Transitioning with God

1 Corinthians 6:11- And such were some of you. But you were washed,…sanctified,… justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
In the Old Testament there was no room for forgiveness for the homosexuals. Under this dispensation of grace however, Jesus Christ offers room for a second chance. The text shows that some of the Christians at Corinth were formerly homosexuals before they surrendered themselves to God.

Believing in God and His ability to change you

John 8:24, Hebrews 11:6. But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Repentance

Turning away from a sinful act requires a change in regular patterns. Become weary of those patterns that tend toward homosexuality like cross-dressing and bad company. Make conscious effort to denounce your wrong doings to avert God’s anger.

Confession

Confession of your faith in God is important likewise confession of this sinful act. If there is one thing about secret sin, it is the fact that it takes advantage of your hiding it to quietly destroy you. A private sin is a ticking time bomb for self destruction. Exposing it rids it of its ability to own you. Reading and listening to testimonies of repented homosexuals I observed a common pattern. When they realized at the early stage that they were drawn sexually to same sex, they tried unsuccessfully to suppress and hide it from persons that could help them. This continued until they had gotten neck deep into the act.

Confessing a secret sin keeps you accountable because you know someone now keeps tab on you and you do not want to fall short. This means you are truly repentant. It is not enough to always feel sorry after each episode of committing a sinful act.

Baptism

Baptism washes a sinner of his guilt and brings about forgiveness from God. 1 Peter 3:21
